Housing Law

MMLS represents tenants in various disputes, such as eviction actions, subsidized housing issues and security deposit disputes. We also assist homeowners to prevent foreclosure on their home.

Tenants involved in disputes with their landlords about rent, lease violations, lease terminations, illegal evictions and lockouts, utility shutoffs by the landlord and sub-standard housing issues may qualify for representation by MMLS.

We also assist tenants looking to get into public housing, obtain Housing Choice (Section 8) Vouchers or other subsidized housing; avoid termination of their subsidized housing and other disputes with their public housing authority.

Funding for the Eviction Protection Grant Program of our Housing Law Program is provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
