Our History

Mid-Missouri Legal Services Corporation (MMLS) was incorporated as a Missouri not-for-profit corporation in 1978.  It was established through the efforts of The Missouri Bar, the County Bar Associations of Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cooper, Howard and Randolph Counties, the University of Missouri Law School, and the Human Development Corporation (currently Central Missouri Community Action Program).  Initial funding of $109,000 annually was received from the federal Legal Services Corporation.  MMLS provides free legal services regarding civil law problems to low-income people in 11 Mid-Missouri counties including Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Miller, Moniteau, Osage and Randolph.
